Rise Up Coffee has been an independent small-batch coffee roaster and retailer since March 2005. Rise Up originated from an explosive combination of ambition and circumstance. Tim Cureton had what would prove to be a life changing coffee experience while traveling home from the Peace Corps service. His love affair with great coffee had begun. Utilizing a $16,000 business loan, Cureton along with co-founder Abby West, opened the first Rise Up Coffee. Rise Up began as a coffee trailer, before there were TV shows and movies about food trucks. What started in a parking lot in a town with a population of 1,029 has evolved into five high-volume cafe locations, a very active online store and many new exciting wholesale relationships.
Rise Up is known for its people. Now staffed by over a hundred amazing people, among them is Tim’s lifelong friend and business partner, Noah Kegley who joined the company in 2010 and now serves as Head Roaster.
Recently voted ‘Maryland’s Best Coffee’, Rise Up represents 15 years of total dedication to sustainable coffees, Certified Organic + Certified Fair Trade.

Possibly the best coffee I've ever had! The cinnamon toast flavour is so delicious! The food was really good too, and appreciated that there were vegan options on the menu. We had a long weekend in Ocean City for a music festival and went to Rise Up at least once a day for a coffee, and the service was always amaxing and friendly.

Absolutely, positively the best coffee and espresso drinks AND breakfast from Rehoboth Beach to Ocean City, MD. Busy as can be stores and there is a reason why. But don’t be discouraged, lines move fast. Friendly and attentive service, organic coffee, locally sourced ingredients for their super burritos, scratch biscuit sandwiches and delicious seasonal pastry offerings. Even the packaging is super thoughtful. So very few coffee shops compare to this Rise Up!!

If you’re in Ocean City and need a solid coffee fix, Rise Up Coffee is a must-stop. Super friendly staff, a bright and clean space, and the vibe is relaxed — perfect for a quick stop or settling in for a bit. Bonus: there’s free parking right outside, which is a total win in this area.
They’ve got vegetarian options and non-dairy milk available, so it’s great for all kinds of dietary needs. Whether you’re grabbing a cold brew or a latte, they’ve got you covered. Definitely recommend!
