Carousel Hotel

The amenities are great and our grandchildren loved the bounce house! We were disappointed in the accommodations, especially the substandard cleanliness of the rooms. Quality control on the housekeeping is not being performed. There was a permanent ring around the bathtub, growth on the ceiling tiles in the bathroom and scum around the sink faucets. The back of the draperies were filthy. I understand coming out of season is to expect some wear and tear on the rooms but you need to do better in the housekeeping department. We also had a friend visit the bathroom which was concerning. We saw it on the last day so it was too late to request another room. Please take more time to clean and detail the rooms, as well as to exterminate regularly. Also, the beds are lumpy and very uncomfortable, but the linens were especially comfortable. The outside bar servers could have been a bit more friendly but the inside staff was great! Food is a bit pricey but expected. More food/appetizer specials would be nice to offer. Overall, the kids enjoyed it and didn’t notice the details. They were there for the fun, which they had a lot of it. The fire pits were also a big hit!

My grandchildren and I decided to take a little vacation, I chose this hotel because of the amenities. However, every time I’ve been to the front desk for a question they’ve accused me of crazy things. First, I asked for more washcloths considering the bathroom floor and the floor in the kitchen area was sticky, I figured I clean it myself. When asking, they said it comes from smoking and drinking. Second time, I asked about extending my stay and again was met with this smoking and drinking thing, and charging me 250.00. I’m here with 3 children all under the age of 7. When I asked the rep at the front who is smoking and drinking she just looked like a deer in the headlights. My oldest granddaughter even said “Grandma she’s rude”. Another guest and I’m assuming her teenage daughters were exiting while I was at the desk and they proceeded to have a sidebar conversation about them being trouble.I have now booked another hotel for the remainder of our week. The room is nice but very cold, can’t get the room over 62 degrees. They do provide a little space heater that is housed in the closet but I’m scared the plug may get hot. The view is nice. The pool was nice. The kids enjoyed the arcade. The room has some moisture and a moisture smell but we got some Lysol and cleared that up. Overall, the hotel is okay but the staff is poor.

My family and I were extremely disappointed by the Carousel Hotel. The oceanfront hotel is huge, offering 326 hotel rooms and in addition, 17 floors of two- and three-bedroom condominiums, all of which are poorly maintained. The pool is not adequate to serve the population of people the hotel occupies. The pool is not maintained at all. The pool water is cloudy, the paint is peeling across the pool deck, and there is lack of drainage on the pool deck causing many puddles and hazardous conditions. The pool is minuscule compared to the size of the hotel. There are no showers available to wash off sand after the beach, however they offer hoses which spray everywhere and cause pooling of water in the area, again due to lack of appropriate drainage systems.
There was a large hose on the right hand corner of the parking lot, spewing water across the parking lot and onto the coastal highway, causing puddles.
The security does not properly check the status of vehicles in the loading zone of the parking lot. There were cars parked in the loading zone for days, and when it was my turn to check out there were no spots available to load my car and I had no where to park. The hallways of the hotel were dark, poorly lit, and claustrophobic due to the short ceiling height. Housekeeping offered below average service. They came into the room and took out the garbage, tossed towels onto the bathroom counter, and they did not make the beds. I had to call the front desk and find out that the beds are made every 3 days and I have to request for beds to be made everyday. I should have been notified of this upon check in. The circuit breakers blew numerous times in our hotel room, leaving us with no power for a short period of time. I have never lost power at a hotel, and for a hotel of this caliber it is an absolute embarrassment. The pull out bed was impossible to sleep on. It was nothing but a bunch of springs, with no mattress padding to sleep on. The only positive of the hotel is that the staff members were accommodating. Isabella at the front desk was welcoming, kind, helpful and informative. With a hotel of this size, I hope that management can take all of this into consideration and make the necessary changes to turn the hotel around.
