The inspiration for our name Burley Oak Brewing Company was derived from the name of the town, our traditional brewing methods and the history of our brew house.
The town of Berlin had its start around the 1790s, part of the Burley Plantation, a 300-acre (1.2 km2) land grant dating back to 1677. The name Berlin is believed to be derived from a contraction of "Burleigh Inn", a tavern located at the crossroads of the Philadelphia Post Road (now South Main Street) and Sinepuxent Road (Tripoli Street).
It just so happens, that our building was originally a Cooperage - making oak barrels to fill with local produce and seafood to ship off to Baltimore in the early 1900's. And we are bringing barrels back to the building, aiding us in the aging of our hand-crafted ales.

First ran into Burley Oak at Glizzy Fest and really got into their Jream series so naturally I was excited to go to their brewery.
Pros
- Friendly Beertenders
- Variety of Seating Options
- Will pour flights when it’s busy
Cons
- Beer is meh. Would rather stop at RAR on the way down to the beach instead of this place.
- Food is overpriced for portion size. $19 for me feels like it should be shareable nachos. See attached photo. I laughed out loud.
- Flies everywhere - landing on the beer, the food. I get it - brewery close to the beach but figure something out.

Always have to visit our favorite local brewery! Beer is outstanding, service is excellent, atmosphere is fun! We even got to hang with our brewer, Brian🤩

The Jreams used to be better. I don’t know what changed. Either they stayed the same and everyone else upped their game, or they changed. Either way their jreams, which used to be the pinnacle of fruited sours, is now firmly in 3rd for the area behind Dewey and RAR imo. The service is also slacking. When I went to grab take outs I stood there for 10 minutes while I watched two bartenders talk, and who I’m assuming was a manager just sit on his laptop. All while one other bartender ran around like a chicken with their head cut off. Shame.
